One of a Kind Angel Heart entering the world.

Dear Angel Heart Friends. Happy New Year.  This week the workshop is finishing a commission that began before Christmas.  To date this is the most unique Angel Heart Ring made: white gold setting, rose gold stars flanking the forehead of the beast, New York City White Stone and Rose Gold pentagram.  We love the idea and the result of a piece that has taken us since last year to make!  We look forward to making more special creations in 2012.

The Stick Star

Let it Be Known, The Wooden Angel Star is here.

The Wood Angel Ring marks the Entry into the Kingdom of Wood.
From a massive base to singing leaves above...this wood's deep grain is extremely rare,
endangered, and is used in the making of musical instruments.

It's dust will put you to sleep and the tree's oil is poisonous...

This nearly extinct wood stands near the darkness that took the Oaks from England
and the Elms away from America.

This Star is made from twisted sticks, made small by magic as if left by a passing priest to mark the way.

We call on the Spirits of Nature to Renew the Natural World.

Archeology of Alex's Sketchbook

Several Years ago we compiled a book of the history of the Angel Heart. In it were glimpses of sketches and notes on the Angel Heart Ring. As Alex contemplated this great commission he recorded his thoughts on the assignment in his sketchbook/journal. Here are some of the earliest drawings and notes on the ring.

Angel Heart in the Alley

In the summers of 1999 and 2000 Alex spent time traveling around Turkey. Influence of his travels is evidenced in the Magic Cities Collection. During this time he made friends and began working with a factory in Turkey to help produce his work. After a year or two, it was decided that it was best to bring the production back to New York City, but the originals were still in Turkey. The honorable caster would trust no one but Alex himself with these. And so 10 years later, Alex and his daughter Lily went on a mission to retrieve the originals from the Turkish Casting House. They are flying home right now. For any who have longed for the old flying hearts and pagan rings produced in the early 2000's, we will be returning to the older designs. Good things are in store for 2011.
